The other day I was craving Chick-Fil-A, but it was a Sunday so I was out of luck. I decided there is no reason I can't have it when i want it if I can make it myself. I experimented a little, and what I came up with is PRETTY DARN CLOSE. I actually like my Chick Fil A sauce better (shhhh, don't tell CFA) This is easy to do, and delicious, so give these a try the next time you are craving CFA and realize it's a Sunday!
CHICK-FIL-A SPICY SANDWICH
Ingredients
4 4 oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup pickle juice (I used the juice from the jar of pickles I was using for dinner)
2 tbsp hot sauce
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup flour
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp celery salt
1/2 tsp basil
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp peanut oil for air frying
4 Hamburger Buns (buttered and toasted)
Pickle Slices
Directions
Place chicken between 2 sheets of wax paper or in a freezer bag and pound gently with the flat side of a mallet until about ½″ thick. Marinate chicken in the pickle juice and hot sauce for about an hour. Beat together egg and milk in a bowl. Mix together the flour, sugar, and spices in another bowl. Pour the peanut oil into the bottom of the air fryer for frying. Dip each chicken piece into the egg, covering both sides Transfer to the flour mixture and turn to completely coat. Fry chicken on 350 for about 8 minutes in air fryer. Place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Serve on toasted buns with pickle slices. i toasted the buns in the air fryer and buttered them from there.
CHICK-FIL-A SAUCE
This sauce is so incredibly easy, and my husbands word were "Can you make this for everything from now on" so it's a winner lol
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup light mayo
1/2 cup original bbq sauce
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/2 cup honey
Directions
Simply mix all ingredients in a bowl and let blend in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Seriously, it's that simple!
CHICK-FIL-A POLYNESIAN SAUCE
Polynesian is my favorite sauce, followed by the sriracha and cfa sauces. Next time I will try to make the sweet and spicy sriracha, but this was a close copycat of Polynesian.
Ingredients
1/2 cup catalina (I used fat-free because I had accidentally grabbed that bottle at the store)
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp granulated sugar
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Directions
Mix well and let blend in the fridge for an hour.
I served these with some frozen waffle fries and homemade lemonade. While it's a little more time consuming to make, it was quite delicious! I did use the air fryer to cut calories, and only used a little peanut oil mainly to help the chicken not dry out while adding a hint of the peanut oil taste to give it more of a Chick-Fil-A feel. You could cook this in oil just as easily, however. I would use about 1/3-1 cup of the peanut oil and fry in a pan if you wish to fry it that way.
