Welcome back to “Dinin’ USA”! I took a bit of a break for some wedding planning things, and even though I had prepared these I hadn’t posted yet. We have 81 days left until our “I Do’s” so the smaller details and addressing invitations and such are kicking into high gear. One of the nights we were working on wedding stuff I made these fries and burgers. In-N-Out is in a few states, but is most widely known as being a California staple. I searched many options for California but kept coming up with items I had made numerous times such as California Clubs, California Pizza Kitchen pizzas that I can buy in the frozen section, or California Rolls, one of my favorites when I’m after a quick bite of sushi.
I have never had In-N-Out, but having heard reviews of the Animal Style Fries I decided to give these a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed these as I’m usually a ranch/hot sauce/cheese and bacon girl with fries, but I do experiment with them somewhat (My Philly cheesesteak fries and Chicken fajita fries near the inception of this blog, for example.)
I didn’t make the burgers as we were short on time, so I just used frozen patties, but next time I make these I will also make the burgers from scratch, which are 1000 times better. But all in all this was a great dinner, and I will be making the fries again!

Ingredients
* 3 small onions, diced
* ½ tbsp. brown sugar
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 1 cup mayo
* 2/3 cup ketchup
* 4 tbsp dill relish
* ¼ tsp salt
* ½ tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp sugar
* 1 ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
* 1 small bag of frozen French fries
* ½ cup shredded cheddar
Directions
Heat oil in a skillet, add onions and brown sugar, stirring to coat. Cook on low until caramelized (about 30 minutes). While onions are cooking combine mayo, ketchup, relish, salt, pepper, sugar and vinegar. Place in refrigerator to allow flavors to blend well. Prepare fries according to package directions (I baked mine to cut some fat calories) Place in oven safe dish if you fried or air fried, sprinkle cheese on top and broil long enough to melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from oven and top with Animal Style sauce and onions. I used about half of the sauce and onions and topped our burger with the rest.
